A story.

India- the land of love, hospitality and brotherhood. Where people mourn over the deaths of children in Pakistan and pray for the souls of Syria, the country gives me all the reasons to be proud of.
But what stirs up my mind is the fact that we mourn over such highlighted incidents while fail to notice how many students take the ultimate step to end their lives.

No, i am not in any means supporting suicide (a.k.a. felo de se). I am just going to talk about the lenient behavior of ours towards suicide cases.

A very good friend of mine, whom i had known for 6 years from now, committed suicide in her room by hanging herself without a reason left behind. It was devastating and shocking at the very same time that the person i saw about two days ago all smiling and laughing, was now gone all of a sudden. We friends went to her home a few days later. Her parents were still in shock, they constantly asked each one of us to say anything we knew about this. They were clueless, they had lost their child, whom they raised with all their love and affection. Her brother, couldnt save her sister from what she did, so rather made us understand how shocking it was to lose a companion all of a sudden.

She and I, were in the same school. Say (X). So apparantly this school(x) is pretty renowned in the city for its overall achivements and results. But the so called renowned school was busy appreciating toppers and scholars, and forgot what humanity is. The whole school knew about the case, but the Head of the school came to a conclusion that revealing the case in front of the students, and talking about suicide, would spread a negative message among the students. When some friends of ours, went to the head to appeal for a 2-minute silence for my friend, well, they were sent back. How heartless and inhuman could people be? While the government was busy working against 'The BlueWhale Challenge', some teachers of our school, took it as a probable reason of her death. Students started talking about her, some said that maybe she did this because of a bad breakup, some said she wanted to try new things and thus ended up with this.

Why only the school? My very own parents were disgusted when they heard about it. Yes, suicide isnt the best decision in life, but we never know what the person committing suicide would have gone through at that time. Maybe she couldnt talk to anyone, maybe she was afraid of what her parents would think of her when they'll know about her problem. We dont have any rights to judge her on the basis of what she did.

Suicide is not a thing to be ashamed of, rather it should be talked about, to create awareness . Even though several suicide helpline numbers have been provided for help, the nearest help comes from our family.
So, let's stop concealing these suicide cases and rather work on it.
